Pet Care 4U Safety Tip – Hunting Season Awareness
Hunting season dog safety guide from Pet Care 4U – tips on leads, visibility, recall training, and safer countryside walking routes.
As autumn and winter arrive, it’s important to remember that hunting and shooting activities increase across many countryside areas. To help keep your dog safe, here are a few simple steps:
✔ Keep your dog on a lead when walking near farmland, woods, or open rural land
✔ Use a bright or reflective collar/coat so your dog is clearly visible
✔ Avoid early morning and dusk walks in shooting areas
✔ Look out for “Shooting in Progress” signs and choose an alternative route
✔ Make sure your dog’s ID tag and microchip details are up to date
✔ Practise strong recall if walking off-lead in safe locations
Main UK game seasons run from September to February, so extra caution is needed during these months.
A little extra care can make all the difference in keeping your furry friends safe and stress-free 💚
